What an amazing year!! When I walked the floor at Imaging USA 2017 which displayed the award-winning images from 2016, I was in awe at the images being displayed. I said to myself, if I have to step up my game. I have to compete at the International Photographic Competition. I entered my First Photographic Open case (4 images).
The grueling process began with selecting images, and working on them. I reached new heights in my skills, as I worked and reworked every image until I was sure that they were ready to compete.
Every image in the the Photographic Open is judged on the 12 elements of merit.
- Impact
- Technical excellence
- Creativity
- Style
- Composition
- Presentation
- Color Balance
- Center of Interest
- Lighting
- Subject Matter
- Technique
- Story Telling
And I am happy to report that all that worked paid off!! All 4 images received a merit, giving me a BRONZE medal for the case!! I could not be happier as a first time entrant! I had a lot of help along the way, from wonderful mentors, friends, and professionals who pushed me, guided me, and inspired me every step of the way.
Also, I now have 4 merits towards Master of Photography degree.
